Want a brew as golden and relaxing as a California sunset? Look no further than this lovely beer! This was a lovely example of the style that was crisp, low in alcohol, full in body, and plenty fun as it didn't last in my glass for very long!
Of course, this poured a radiant gold with a full, evenly-settling head that was plenty deep and took it's time to settle down. A nice amount of grain, soft Noble hops, and bread were in the nose as the taste was bright, low in sulfur, and just a bit grassy. Plenty bright, this almost felt like a Helles Lager but with some potato chip bite and subtle, earthiness to give it depth and round out the flavor profile. Plenty of dough and pretzel in the aftertaste, the malt was enduring and the carbonation just light enough to not be seen, but felt as this never seemed too light nor too heavy.
Love the label, love how this held up, but I don't love the lack of a canning date on the bottom. That notwithstanding, this was an excellent take on the style that was fun and carefree without being light or skimpy. Even a hint of white chocolate stuck around both in the aroma and taste as the sweetness was present there and in the hint of honey that stayed on my teeth long after I took the last sip. I really enjoyed this as it had me wishing that my next can would be on Venice Beach as the sun was setting...
