Received from a friend August 20, 2020 in a crowler (take-out only). Pours dark with a slight head that is gone in a minute. Barely brown around the edges but let's call it black.

Aroma is mellow stone-fruit, cherry marshmallow, new leather seat smell.

Taste, against aroma, is much more ashy. Hello american stout. Bitter hop, anise, ash, roast pork and charcoal which is a bit unexpected but not so much you say "oh sh*t." Undercurrent of molasses. Body is heavier than the 7.6% might suggest. American stouts (to my experience) are bold and this is darker for sure, this approaches imperial with aggressive flavors.

FInish makes me feel like it was left a little too close to the fire. Roast, nice balance.
