Draft at brewery.Golden pourwith soft white head. Light peppery aroma gets stronger in taste, then settles out. Solid throughout, nice feel. Heat lingers.

pretty interesting stuff here, a jalapeno ipa tasted on tap at their new twin falls taproom, cool space here for sure. this seems sort of old school at first, its amber in color, definitely a little more malty than is common these days, but its also quite strong, not real bitter, and relatively restrained on the hops for the style, so its a little back and forth for me. its done with jalapeno, which is balanced with the hops and the grain in the nose, but moves to a more forward position in the flavor, especially on the finish. they did a nice job of pepper authenticity in here, its bold and its natural, but its not overly spicy, just a little throat warmth on the finish. they also did a good job selecting hops to compliment the pepper, this part isnt easy, but this is more cohesive than a lot of these, cool to have it be an ipa rather than an amber or blonde too, lots of flavor here. the beer overall though is a little amateur to me in terms of execution, like the ferment isnt quite clean, this doesnt feel as refined and lively as it should, and again, its mighty malty, almost extract-esque. not sure why its always the smalltime breweries making hot pepper beers, you tend to see a lot less of these from the bigger craft operations, but you can count on just about every small town brewery in the west having one. weird phenomenon. this is better than most, but still has some room for improvement. solid effort and quite unique in this space.
