Named for the Indian Paintbrush flower and the tribe that use to inhabit these lands. Our take on a Red Ale, this beer presents a nice red hue. It is not overly hopped and presents some slight caramel toasty flavors this beer is sure to please.

Draft at the brewery. Dark amber pour with small creamy off-white head. Creamy smooth feel, nice toasty, malty, dark bread flavors. Really tasty, mild sweetness.

a really basic red ale here, lightly hopped, and established a big toasted malt profile very early on. this is my first beer from these guys, and its only average to me, a safe recipe with only decent execution. the fermentation is a little funny, perhaps more of an ester than this should have to it, maybe too warm, maybe some stressed yeast, but this doesnt have the round softness i like in the style, although the little zizzle there does keep the body and the sugar at bay a little bit. some nice deep malt characteristics here, with notes of cooked sugar, raisin, and dark bread, maybe a toffee hint there too, and subtle wet tobacco, a pretty good foundation. its lightly nutty as it warms, and not as sweet as some, which i like. if the yeast element could be cleaned up a little bit, this would be a solid example of the style, although still somewhat basic as they go. medium bodied, fine carbonation, and some dried fruitiness to finish. ill be down in this part of the state later this summer and am looking forward to checking out their brewery. i am hoping for some more ambitious beers than this one...
