Draft at brewery. Hazy amber with small creamy head. Aroma us light hoppiness, more citrus in the taste. Grapefruit, Citra, almost juicy. Nice malt base. Solid IPA.

another beer from these guys that seems both safe in terms of recipe and only mediocre in terms of execution, they seem to have a pretty good reputation, but i havent really had a beer i have cared for from them yet. this is deep red in color for an ipa, and its malty throughout. i dont dislike that in an ipa, i really dont, but here it seems like its forced them to bitter the heck out of this, which goes past balanced and into the realm where the bitterness hurts the flavor of the beer, like the hops dont taste like much, they are just bitter, not a great look in a beer that has this much grain character, its unbalanced in the wrong direction. the linger of the green and biting hops on the tongue is long. there are some things to like here though, including some unique toasty nuance in the grain, is massively flavorful without being too sugary, so thats cool, and there is a neat orange note to the hops that i wish wasnt obscured so much by all the bitter. the carbonation is nice too, which i really like in the style, but these guys need to do some serious fine tuning here. its not undrinkable, but i would never choose this here, where we have so many superior local ipa types to pick from. i hope to visit this brewery soon and find a few i like a little better...
