these guys have a cool little taproom out here, but the beers i had didnt really do much for me, which is sort of a continuation of my experience with their beer when i have had it before. this one is the better of the two i had this time, and maybe my favorite of their beer overall to date, close to it anyway, but still a somewhat low mark i think, the objective quality is just kind of all over the place in here. this is a very lemon forward wheat beer, pale and simple in its construction, obviously wheat based, and with more than just a little lemon. there is also some yeast character, subtle elements of both a wit type and a hefe type yeast, with a coriander essence, a green banana thing, and a soft spice all well behind the lemon, which manifests itself in the flavor here as almost lemon candy, or lemonade made from the powder, not all the way real, both tangy and a bit sweet, but the wheat still comes through and keeps it beery. i think there is good boldness to this, especially for being such a light brew, but there is a funny phenolic thing happening on the swallow, not a clean ferment at all, and its something i noticed much more severely in some of their other flavors, not as bad in this one, but still present, i suspect its just fermented too warm, maybe they dont have temperature controlled fermentation, i didnt see their system, but thats my guess. take that out, and the little soapy element that comes with it, and we have a nice little summer beer here. the lemon tries to make this refreshing, and the wheat does keep a little body in it. a bit amateur, but not bad overall, and nice with their food, the kitchen is doing a good job in here.
