funny name, great beer, ive liked all ive had from these guys so far, this is the new fangled west coast pils, which i understand the confusion on the style, cold ipa, the new west coast ipa, india pale lager, a dance we all keep doing, but i appreciate these that still taste like pils, like where the grain and the ferment arent neutral but still light, thats i think where the distinction is important, and while this is certainly hop driven and the ferment is about as minimal as it gets, the mouthfeel hits like a lager and the grain profile certainly brings something to the table, not quite european bready and doughy and crackery, but it doesnt need to be, more subtle here, simple and earthy, light, nice with how quick and snappy this is, a fine lager on its own, but not much more than a well executed yellow beer behind the hops, which i think is the point, and the hops here define this. a fine showcase of nectaron, some bitterness too, clean and fast as can be though, white peach, ripe apricot, and mowed lawn in the nose, a little catty almost mosaic thing in the taste, some dankness, generic stone fruit, dehydrated mango, fuller white wine, skunky weed, candied lemon peel, and some fast finishing bitterness. fizzy and excited the whole drink, even as i take my time with it, patchy white globs of lace adorn the sides of the globe i pour it in the whole time too, very well refined, some body but still easy, very hop forward, really solid.
