Plenty to appreciate. The look is bland with little to like. The nose is punchy with plenty of tropical fruit especially pineapple. Palate is a little let down but not bad as there is a decent balance of piney hops. Missing the tropical notes the aroma hinted at. Finished flat

From an undated can sampled April 16, 2022.
Golden pour under cream colored head with fine clarity.
The aroma is bread and a lot more fruity sensations.
Medium mouthfeel.
The taste starts sweet and the fruity bitter characters take over.

Crankee Yankee
New England IPA
6.8% ABV
Winchester, NH
16 oz can, no date, into Prairie Rastal glass.
Somewhat transparent but still a bit juicy looking. Blonde in color, wispy head of ½ finger, leaves some lace.
Aroma of clean water and fresh pine, with hints of citrus peels and pale malt. A hint of sulfur. Pretty balanced. I love these clean New England IPAs.
Flavor brings pale malt firstly, then some grapefruit peel and slightly stale lemon peel. Caramel malt pops its head up more than most NE IPAs I've had, and it finishes on hints of stale dry grass and more citrus peel.
Feel is juicy and acidic but not creamy or thick. Drinks like an acidic west coast number. Slight resins on the finish. A bit of alcohol heat.
Overall, a decent beer but comes off a touch underwhelming and it needs more oomph to carry it. It skews west coast a bit, and has more caramel malt than probably any New England IPA I've had from the region. This one is really an old school malt-driven IPA with emphasis on pine/grass/pith. Not what you'd expect from NH. I got quite a few of these so I'll be tipping them back in the next couple weeks. Still a tasty and clean beer to try once.
