This 11% ABV Imperial Porter is brewed with honey and cake spices. This is a rich and smooth porter brewed with honey, fermented dry that deftly hides its prodigious ABV with medium body and light roast flavor. The cake spices are cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, star anise, and cloves.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a half finger high tan head that left a collar around the edge and a large, thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of cake spices are present in the smell - ginger really stands out in particular.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of ginger along with notes of nutmeg and hints of cinnamon that stand out in front of the underlying stout.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied and somewhat dry on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes a lot like it could be a gingerbread stout and would make for a nice selection during the holidays.

16oz can poured into a nonic; fairly oily opaque pour with a dense mocha head; nose is full of baking spices, cakey roasted malt, cinnamon, ginger, apple pie, and dried cherries; the palate follows the nose, lots of gingerbread and carrot cake notes, with a very drying finish. The body isn't quite as dense as I would think a 10+% porter would be, but overall this hits well on all cylinders.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Dark brown pour, opaque, spotty beige head. Aroma is gingerbread spice, savory. Taste is cinnamon and allspice, snappy, a bit more spicy than gingerbread. Roast malts underlay the spicy mix, adding a nice subtle sweetness. Enough savory spice to mask the higher ABV.
