We are really looking forward to introduce you guys to the newest member of our Braufrisch family! Give our Rotbier a warm welcome!
Rotbier is a style that is native to Nürnberg, and one we were introduced to, when we visited Nürnberg in late 2023. We sampled a good handful of different Rotbiers in town, and quite liked it. They ranged from sweet and malty, to dry and hoppy - and we especially liked when they presented dry and hoppy, but still had a solid bready malt character.
For our interpretation, we have used the Red X malt from Best Malz as a base malt, and layered flavors with small additions of German crystal malts. The result is a nice full bodied lager, with soft nutty & caramel nuances, rustic bread and a nice hop forward profile of spice, citrus & floral notes from the use of Tettnang & Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops.
We really enjoyed interpreting the Rotbier of Nürnberg, and hope you guys will enjoy drinking it!

Copenhagen 15/4 2026. 44 cl can from Meny, Illums, Kbh. K. Red can with a pattern of black cubes. A bit over the Best Before data (march 2026).
Pours a bit unclear amber with a red hue. Big off-white head. Stable. Settles as 1,5 cm thick layer of foam obscuring the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense and sweet and toasted with a light whiff of citrus. Toasted malts, biscuits and caramel. Fresh lemon peeking in.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, soft, silken, gently tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a light sweetness followed by a medium strong, sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a while. Finish is dry.
Bitter yet toasted.
