this is a style that i absolutely love and i wish we saw more of in american craft brewing, it is a lost art, ready for a revival like we have seen with the likes of gose over the past couple of years. this was for me hands down the best beer in here, although i didnt get to have all of them, they have quite an extensive list here, but this was the winner in my experience. a light amber color with just a little cloudiness and a frothy foamy just off white head with great retention and lacing. it smells a touch like the fresh saison yeast, that vinous sharpness, but its really balanced by the malt, carries a faint citrus tartness, and has a bit of funk as well, a very interesting and appealing fermentation profile. the flavor is nice too, complex from a yeast standpoint, really clean to drink for how conventionally malty it is, a nuttiness to the grain, a bready baked sweetness, a note of red apple, but then drier at the end, brightly carbonated, and really pleasant. things like dried apricot and toffee come to mind here, as well as some white wine from the yeast and a little autumn spice. a tasty and well made beer, i would go back for this one.
