16 fl oz pull-tab can nabbed as part of a 4-pack at a grocer in New Orleans, LA for $11.99 USD plus tax.
"German-style pilsner." 5.1% ABV.
Grassy spicy Noble hop varietal flavour. Crisp pilsner malt. Floral hop flavour. Finishes on an odd note...almost sort of a maize or 6-row flavour that leaves it tasting like a cheap malt liquor or budget Euro lager.
Smooth, wet, largely unrefreshing, crisp, light to medium-bodied. Not oily, gushed, hot, or boozy. It's a biteen buttery, actually - not that I suspect diacetyl off-flavour or anything like that. But it has this coating feel on the palate that just doesn't suit a beer billed as a pilsner...it's not the clean crisp texture of a great expression of the style I guess is what I'm getting at.
Drinkable, sure, but not as much as the best expressions of the style. An overpriced underwhelming stab at a pilsner from Brieux Carré. But I'm really glad they're finally distributing.
