$10.99 USD plus tax for a 4-pack of 16 fl oz pull-tab cans at a grocer in New Orleans, LA. Label art is comic-book like with an orange and yellow driven design.
"New Zealand-Style Pilsner." (Huh?). "Lager." 5% ABV.
A: Clear yellow body. Obviously filtered. Off-white head ~7cm in height. ~3 minute head retention.
AROMA: Floral. Grassy. Lemon. Kellerbier-redolent dampness/subtle funkiness.
TASTE: Matches the aroma. Tastes a bit off, almost like its fermentation was unbunged or there was some brief oxygenation.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, light to medium-bodied, well carbonated, somewhat refreshing.
OVERALL: A decent pilsner with some New World hop action going on, but it's lacking in fundamentals. I doubt they used multiple decoction techniques and it needs more of a crisp light body to drink as easily as the best expressions of the style.
Low B- / WORTHY
***
Hop profile isn't standout. Some vague tropical fruit - maybe pineapple, a hint of dry lime leaf, floral hop flavour.
Not a top tier pils by any stretch, but quite drinkable.
