Brewed with Floor-Malted Czech Pilsner Malt and Czech Saaz hops. Spicy hop notes with tons of crackery malt notes.

this was called you spund me right round when i had it, the same beer im sure, pretty cool how many lagers these guys do and how good they are, this is really authentic, nice brewing pun in the name too. a golden color, slightly richer looking than the imports, nice and clear, short bubbly white head, looks right. the nose is fully grainy, to me perhaps decocted, crackery, definitely european, definitely nicely mashed, completely, so much character to it, and so fresh. also weirdly sweet to me, sweeter than many of these, but it also has a crispness from a familiar old world lager strain, right on! the flavor is good too, i like the simplicity, the way they dont over hop this and americanize it, the way they let the grain shine, high quality malt here no doubt, so its cool to taste it, not in isolation, but in what i would call its natural habitat with noble hops and this yeast strain. it does retain some sweetness through it, but it doesnt heavy the beer up at all, minerals and german breadiness through the finish, light grassy pep to the hops, but its all in service of the malt to same, good balance overall. it could use just a notch up on the carbonation, its middle of the road but i want it to pop, still real drinkable, very well made, quality overall. i need to get back down to this place, they seem to have leveled up a bit since i was there years ago...

Had Spund Me Right Round at the Brieux Carré taproom on draft into logo Tübinger Kugel.

Pours light-gold with clarity and 1 and 1/2-finger, foamy near-white head, with good retention, leaving some chunky lace down the glass. Nice aromas of biscuit off pour, and of continuing Noble hop spices. Begins smooth and sweet, and then mild fruit and (less mild) hop spices join, with the hops going on to invigorate the pallet, over only a hint of malt, for a nicely crisp finish.

Nice beer, but lacking the big malt presence one expects and desires to taste in a Czech pilsner.
