Foamy head. Very carbonated. Pale yellow. Very citrus. It was not overly happy for an IPA. Nice NEIPA!

Draft pour into a pint glass. Hazy pale yellow appearance, fluffy white head, good retention and lacing. Fruity, pineapple, grapefruit, mild pine. Moderate to full body, creamy carbonation.

16 oz can from Total Wine and More in Short Pump, VA The ale poured a hazy amber color with a white foamy head and lacing. A good-looking ale! The aroma of citrus, pine needles, and tropical fruit greets you. The taste has more citrus mostly grapefruit, also hints of lime and pineapple. Nice hop bitterness in the upper mount. The ale has a medium body and average carbonation.
The ale is listed like this on their website:
This citrusy IPA has a healthy dose of Citra & Mosaic hops which deliver a juicy, tropical flavor & aroma without the
the bitterness of your everyday IPA

Assateague Island IPA has a medium, off-white head and an opaque, orange appearance, with a bit of lacing. The aroma is of bready malt and a touch of citrus. The flavor is of very low bitterness, dry bread, and oranges. Assateague Island IPA has a medium and quite a dry finish.

So I picked up a four pack of tall boys at this bottle shop on the entranceway to Ocean City this afternoon as we arrived for a few days of chilling during April spring break. This fits most of the criteria for the style and is actually kind of delicate and understated, but quite enjoyable. You get the tropical nose and medicinal hops but not oppressive like they sometimes are. Perfect for vacation.

Underrated local NEIPA. I’m in its area about once a year, and it’s a very solid version of its style. It has a great balance of malty sweetness and hops, on the same vector as its older cousin from Rehoboth. Just not as strong or vivid. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
