Undated 12 oz bottle purchased at the brewery in Maryland last month.
Appearance. Near black and opaque with a short-lived beige head.
Dark roasted grains with some smoke together with suggestions of a Black IPA. Disappointing flavor, especially given the enticing aroma, but it did improve with some warming. Lasting aftertaste of lightly smokey dark roasted grains and bitter hops.

This is a very unique beer hybrid if I were to describe it. No carbonation/head on the beer from bottle. Pitch black color. Aroma is very smokey and roasty but also some subtle sweet dark fruits in the background. Taste is where this beer really gets interesting. It’s like a combination of a traditional sweet and yeasty Belgian Strong Dark Ale with an aggressively hopped and roasty RIS. Well made.

5 oz pour on tap. An interesting take on a Belgian strong dark ale. It comes across more as a Belgian imperial stout to me, and I also get a hint of the honey notes. Solid.
