On draught at the brewery.
A dark mahogany/amber colored pour with high clarity. A thin khaki head and little lacing.
The roasted malt is well caramelized, rich and smooth. Vanilla bean, and rich ripe fruit flavors abound. Raisin, and figs and dates come to mind.
The 10.6% ABV is well masked by the robust flavors. The mouthfeel is of a full bodied beer.
The flavor most definitely rises with the temperature. I got a second pour after tasting my wife’s which sat for a while. Worth the wait to let it sit.
I wish this one was available in bottles to go when I was there.
If I’m back in this area, I’ll be sure to bring a Growler.

12 oz bottle from the brewery taproom in Maryland. Aka "Four horsemen of the apocalypse".
This is a richly flavored ale full of dark fruit notes including dried plum and fig.
The flavor improved with warming.
Mouthfeel. Full bodied and smooth.

One of the most underrated brews. Beautiful brew, motor oil with a nice tan head. Very interesting mix of aromas. Dark malt with a combination of peat, roast, dark fruit. Wonderful mix. Full mouthfeel, nice finish. Yet another quality offering.

Really nice dark fruits and sweetness noticed in this one. Very full bodied and heavy. Highly recommend.

5 oz pour on tap. Looks pretty good - very dark amber/brown, nearly opaque. Smells like Diplomatico rum - very sweet. Maybe a hint of brandy. As far as I know this isn't barrel-aged at all, so I'm surprised to get such a strong rum/brandy impression. Taste is more along the lines of a standard quadrupel ale, with dark cherries and Belgian candi sugar leading the way, along with hints of toffee, creme brulee, and figs/raisins. This is a delicious and fairly unique quad. I would buy this if I see it in a bottle shop.
