A fruited sour porter? Say what? On tap at Beertown Burlington on Fairweather takeover day. Review from notes.
Appearance - Very dark chestnut brown, near black. Small finger of off tan head that recedes rather quickly.
Smell - Huge notes of sour cherry and raspberry, chocolate powder abounds as well. Incredibly robust nose, one of the best smelling beers I've had in a long time.
Taste - Rather like the nose, lots of tart fruit up front, hints of chocolate in the background, but make no mistake this is a sour first. Rather intensely flavored for a 4.5% ABV brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium-lkight bodied, modest carbonation and little bit mouth puckeringly dry on the finish.
Overall - One of the most interesting beers I've tried this year, a sour lactose porter that actually works isn't something expected, but certainly an enjoyable tipple.

500 mL Bottle. ABV 4.5%.
Appearance: Chocolate brown, One finger of raspberry red/light brown head, Decent retention, Slight lacing.
Aroma: Coffee, Raspberry, Lactobacillus, Roasted malts, Chocolate, Dark berries.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, Fairly smooth, Slight prickle, Dry finish.
Flavour: Raspberry, Coffee, Lactobacillus, Chocolate, Dark berries.
Overall: Aroma like a rich dessert with dark berries, chocolate and coffee. It's a bit strange to get used to but I think it works well.
