Can from brewery - gift from my daughter.
Very dark brown pushing to black pour with soft reddish highlights at the edges and two fingers of tan/khaki coloured head.
Nose of roasted malts - coffee, dark chocolate, earthy and a touch floral with gentle piney hop aroma.
Taste follows with roasted malt - some coffee, leafy and earthy notes - a whiff of smokiness and some piney hops giving a slightly verdant bitterness.
Medium bodied with decent carbonation and a flavourful roasty bittersweetness sitting on the palate.
Not a style I gravitate to but this was excellent.

Sampled a can of this the other night at board game night. Thanks Chris L for the beer. Served cold into a pint glass.

Appearance - Pretty close to black with a nice two finger light tan head even with a fairly gentle pour. Very good retention but sparse lacing.

Smell - Nose is muted, there's a slight general roasty note with a tiny touch of chocolate and smoke, but really subdued, even as it warms.

Taste - A little more roastiness, light bready qualities and hints of dark chocolate and trace of smoke. Not the most flavorful beer, but executes the Schwarzbier style quite well, if on the lower end of intensity.

Mouthfeel - Quite smooth, moderate carbonation and moist finish with some dryness afterwards. Works very well with the flavor profile.

Overall - A solid if not particularly intense example of a Schwarzbier (a style that isn't terribly intense to begin with), but well brewed and executed and certainly worth a try if you're local to Fairweather.
