Appearance> Nice rootbeer color, hazy, creamy head, very lacy. Lookin good.

Smell> Burnt barley, bit of dark chocolate, slight sourness

Taste> more syrupy than I expected, but on the other hand more complex than I was ready to give them credit for, also.=) hints of molasses and bourbon. Really nice, actually.

Mouf> pretty decent.

Drinkability> Probably only one for me, because it's a bit sweeter than my preference for porters, but really it's not too shabby.

Pour: draught to pint glass. Came to the table with a finger of light tan head over a dark brown body with ruby tones. The head's thick and fluffy with long retention, tons of little trails along the glass where it clung while it descended to some fine lacings. Lots of visible bubbles in the glass.

Nose: Caramel's the first thing to strike, followed by raspberry and other bramble fruits, perhaps even roses. Chocolaty malts that leave a bit of a sour feel that I don't appreciate.

Mouth: Enters with a smooth body, coating my mouth in chocolate flavors that co-mingles sweet and sour senses from front to back. Berry fruits appear, chocolate covered cherries, and a dark roasted coffee finish provides excellent bitter finish, capped by a warming exhale. A lot of mineral flavors remain in the aftermath, making you wonder if beer really could be good for you.

A smooth and creamy beer from start to finish!
