Thanks Greg.
Treated as an imperial black IPA, this was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a fairly dark black color with a thin cap of a little white eggshell white foamy head. Mild lace.
The aroma had a nice blend of piney bittersweet hops infusiing themselves with a rich familiar roasty black coffee smell flowing into some light notes of ash and grains.
The flavor mildly leans towards the bittersweet hops - nice amount of piney-ness. Black coffee enriches the roastiness. Fine tuned aftertaste of black coffee, sweet ash and pine.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping character about it. ABV felt on par. Carbonation felt fine. Super roasty and piney finish.
Overall, for a style that doesn't seem to show up as it used to be, 7th Wave does a great job doing a great job. I feel the need for a MA trip to check these guys out.
