Well, the last 4 beers I just had were all terrible, so I figured I'd save the sour for last, which theoretically can't get more infected than it already is. I almost didn't buy this as well, because, true story, I was asking the guy at the brewery about the beer, and he said it reminded him of that famous sour brewery.... then a pause as he tried to remember. I figured it could be any American sour brewery, then he remembers, (and I'll try to pronounce this like he did), "Oh yeah, Can-til-lion" (lion like the animal). I hesitated and almost put back all my bottles, and now I really wish I did.
ON to the review. Pours a light fizzy head, little lacing, hazy honey blond color
Nose is actually decent, some tart funk, sour fruit, mild acetic acid like bacteria funk, but just a hint of cranberry and no orange or coriander, little buttery oak in there and some white wine notes
Taste, ah there we go, bleh, some malt extract kinda malty flavors, into a strange cider fruit character, and chewy apple sauce, some orange peel and coriander in there, but this time no cranberry, a little flemmy, and some potpourri phenols, finally some cranberry but it's watered down cranberry extract, flemmy finish, tiny flashes of oak in there somewhere, and all super watery
Mouth is light bod, watery, lower carb, some acidity
Overall this started decent on the nose, but then went really south on the taste. If I ever heard someone compare this to Cantillon, and especially pronounced it the way he did, I would never talk to them again. Thankfully I'm never going to this brewery again so I don't ahve to worry about that.
