The beer is light amber (SRM 6-8) with a chill haze. A frothy head reaches two inches, settles to one inch, while leaving patches of dense lace on a PBGC pub tulip glass.
The aroma is very much like strawberries and whipped cream. Light orange aromas are similar to a Creamsicle.
Initially, sweetness carries the aroma forward. Unfortunately, a harsh astringent bitterness takes over quickly. The fruit and cream are still there, however, greatly diminished. The finish is long and, while initially harsh, it mellows with time.
The beer is medium to full bodied with a soft, smooth texture. Light carbonation and alcohol as expected are nice. Unfortunately the astringency is a bit much.
This beer has serious potential, if only the astringency can be dialed back. As the session progresses, the astringency does seem to settle, however, that may be due to acclimation.
