its awesome that so many breweries are springing up around minnesota, it makes me excited for the future up there, but at the same time, its hard to judge a place when your first impression is an amber ale. these are rarely exciting to me, so many of them taste similar, and its just kind of an either its good or its not good, without a lot of differentiation in there, but this is good, so it has that going for it. clearish from the tap, the head is already receding by the time the server gets it to the table, which i dont think is all that long, so maybe short retention here. looks the part though, and smells basic but good, kilned and toasted type malts, nutty, brassy, a little sweet. not much yeast character here, but it does its job, as the fermentation is clean and this doesnt finish too sweet at all. lightly bready, like a breakfast pastry or something, satisfying in that way. i could drink a few pints of this and be happy, which really is the mark for an amber ale in my book. ill look for some others from starry eyed next time i make it up there. this is promising...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
