Prost to Cincinnati’s true heritage food, goetta! We teamed up with Glier’s to create this deep amber ale. Rich mahogany with a khaki head, this ale has aromas of chocolate, bread crust, and pumpernickel bread. The same oats as used in Glier’s Goetta contribute to a smooth body and medium finish.

Pushing the envelope of red, Wests Side Brewing teams up with Glier's Goetta for an ale that is so amber that it is brown... like goetta.
And that unexpected pour of very dark garnet proves very dark brown and almost black before building a creamy ivory froth. As the toasty-sweet scent of caramelized malt rises it brings hints of cocoa, coffee and caramel. The sweetness of caramel picks up in taste as the early palate is malty and semi-dry.
As the beer rolls along the middle palate, the sweetness slowly drifts and the drier malt flavors of coffee and cocoa align with heavy toast for a simple and succinct taste that's nearly schwarzbier-like. As the hops bring a balance of citrus peel and soft pine, the late taste is even-keel in balance and trending dry.
Medium bodied yet lighter and drier compared to most amber ale, West Side's is a crisper textured but bolder flavored version that shares a high level of palatability but lacking in charm.
