Presentation: 12 oz. can with the canning date printed on the bottom. Served in a flared pint glass.
Appearance: The half finger, tan colored head goes away pretty quickly and leaves behind a thin foam ring and a lot of patchy lacing. It's a pure black color but some murky brown shows up on the edges when held up to light.
Smell: It has more of a fresh, raw vanilla aroma than vanilla ice cream per se. There's also some musty malt and brown sugar as well.
Taste: There's a creamy, vanilla sweetness at first with brown sugar thrown in there. It finishes with some dark chocolate and very roasted malt flavors.
Mouthfeel: It's extremely thick and oily. However it doesn't cling to the palate and it goes down fairly easily. Carbonation is very low and barely there at all.
Overall: It's a good beer overall with a surprisingly manageable texture. That said, for something called "Vanilla Ice Cream Stout" there's just not that much vanilla ice cream character if any, at all.

It's really fucking gross tbh. It's the sweetest beer I've had in some time and it barely tastes like vanilla. I had to chug them because I'd never drain pour anything no matter how fucking disgusting it is but I thought about it.

Vanilla is my favorite ice cream and Stouts are my favorite beers. This should’ve been a slam dunk. It has all the elements; milk sugar, lactose, and vanilla in a nice stout base. However, it’s cloyingly sweet, thick, and sticky, with vanilla overwhelming any other flavors.
