Alpha Abstraction Vol 16
Wild Leap Brewing
Date: 25 Feb 2021
Not sure about this beer; the date is going on seven months. I hope this beer held up; I did try it fresh, and it was delicious. I poured into a tulip; the temperature was 46 degrees. The pour created a frothy and airy two-fingered head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left gobs of lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM6, golden yellow with straw color hues. The beer is hazy with loads of yeast floaties.

The aromas in the beer are oranges, mangos, pineapple, a hint of floral esters, toasted crackers, biscuits, a touch of grapefruit, and a skosh of herbal.

I was concerned with the age of this beer; furthermore, it did affect the flavors. I get cardboard and a dank basement, showing the age. The fruit is orange, pineapple, mangos, and a touch of grapefruit. The big malty backbone gave the bold hop profile to hold onto. Wrapping up the flavors, floral, toasted malts, and a scent of herbal.

The mouthfeel is astringent and dry.

The body is medium-plus, medium carbonation, and has a lasting finish.

Despite the age, I know what this beer tastes like. I will not deduct anything for the age. Overall it is a solid NEIPA; I would have preferred juicy fruit flavors to what was given. A solid beer with good flavors, I will explore other flavors Wild Leap has.

Trying this courtesy of @mbgreg and enjoying it quite a bit.
Poured hazy raw honey color with an off white head that dissipated quickly but never went away.
The aroma eluded me, not that there isn’t one, just that I could not define it.
The taste is where this beer shines, complex flavors with passion fruit maybe, some dankness and very refreshing.
The feel is good for the style, albeit a bit thin which prompted me to ignore the 8% abv right away. Not sure if that is good or not.
Enjoyed this one, thanks Mark!

Before I crack this 12 oz can, I’ve never had a version of this beer that I didn’t like so let’s give er a try. Aggressive pour makes a big just offwhite head with a hazy dull deep golden colored brew. Sweet, dank and tropical on the nose here. The flavor is where is shines. Juicy, tropical and with just minimal bite, this here’s a winner. I bit thinner than you’d imagine, I’d call it medium with Decent for the style carbonation. Oh yea !

A: The beer is beer is very hazy yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down a bit but never completely faded away and left lots of small specks of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of passion fruit, pineapple, and stone fruit are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has lots of flavors of tropical fruit hops. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied and juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I've never tried EXP 06300 hops before, but these are quite complex and might be well suited for a single hop IPA.

Pours a hazy goldenrod color with a medium 1/2 inch head that dissipates quickly leaving a slight ring and a little lacing.

Citrus, floral and earthy dank notes on the nose.

Starts with sweet citrus and floral hints then spicy and dank earth kicked in with a slightly bitter finish.

Medium mouthfeel with moderate carbonation.

Overall a little sweet at the beginning with an interesting and complex hop character in the end.
