I visited Schiller Bräu for a snack and some beers tonight, as it’s just a block or so from my hotel. It’s a neat spot! It’s in a hotel itself, but right in front of the main window to the street and right inside the restaurant/bar area is the big shiny copper brewhouse. This is the Germany vibe I’ve been looking for! They only have 5 beers on tap: a helles, a dunkles, and a weissbier, plus two house-made nonalcoholic beers. Just a couple beers done well is the central European way, and I dig it. Service was good and the vibe of the place (beyond the presence of the big copper brewkettles) was very cozy and welcoming. I had the obatzda for a snack, which is a Bavarian cheese spread thing you put on bread or pretzels with onions and radish, and it was very tasty indeed.

The beers were of kinda mixed quality, in my opinion. The helles was okay, not my favorite, but the dunkel kinda blew me away. So I guess depending on your tastes, your mileage may vary. I’d say the place is worth visiting for the dunkel alone, though.

An upscale brewpub in Germany! A concept I wasn’t sure existed. Food was exceptional, traditional Bavarian. Beer options were few but quality. A Helles, Dunkel, Hefe, or alcohol free option. Also a smoked beer seasonal offering. All delicious yet heavier and a bit different from the traditional versions of the styles that are required by German law. A great experience I would recommend to anyone!

Best meal I have had in 4 days in Munich. The venison was delicious. Beer selection is good with solid Munich styles. Easy walk from the haupbahnhof.

Fast service during a busy dinner time at peak Oktoberfest season. The beer was very well made, perfect to style, flavorful and available to go in bottles. The food was traditional German classics with a modern twist. Closer to Munich Zentrum; the location is easy to access and connected to a hotel. Perfect spot to stay for beer friendly tourists. Prost!

This is a small brewery located several blocks south of the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and is worth the trip in my opinion. It is a sleek modern venue with several booths and hightops in the front room; there is additional seating in the back and another room downstairs, adjacent to the restrooms. The two copper brewing tanks are in the front room. They serve their own variation of your typical German beers, such as a dunkles, helles, Weiss and a version of radler. These were all fresh and well-made. Service was great and the roast pork loin was amazing - succulent, tender and addictive.

Schiller Brau is worth a stop if you are in the area, which does not have much else besides gyro shops.
