Appearance - Pours a jet black with two fingers of creamy mocha tan head that leaves some pleasant looking lace on the glass.
Smell - oak, vanilla, hint of smoke, earthy and leafy hops, roasted malts, cherry, plum, raisin, hint of fig, and earthy yeast.
Taste - oak, vanilla, and hint of smoke from the barrel upfront. The earthy and leafy hops alongside the roasted malts, cherry, plum, raisin, and hint of fig follow suit. The earthy yeast finishes off the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes silky smooth with the oak, vanilla, hint of smoke, and dark fruits lingering.
Overall - A well crafted barrel aged imperial stout that is chalk full of flavour. This is by far Annex Ale's best brew I've sampled to date. This brew displays complexity and depth of flavour. I like how the barrel blends very nicely with all other elements of the brew.
