A coffee stout brewed with Phil & Sebastian's coffee.
Appearance - Pours a dark chocolate brown with three fingers of mocha tan head.
Smell - roasted malts, earthy and leafy hops, espresso coffee, hint of berries (strawberry or raspberry), chocolate, and earthy yeast.
Taste - earthy and leafy hops and roasted malts upfront. The coffee flavour is there but isn't as dominant as it was in the aroma. The hint of berries (strawberry/raspberry) and chocolate come through next. The earthy yeast rounds out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes smooth and roasty with the coffee bean lingering.
Overall - An engageable brew that utilizes the coffee bean to a respectable level. For me, I wish the coffee bean was more pronounced in the taste as the aroma was guiding me to believe a bold and bitter coffee bean flavour but. alas, it wasn't meant to be.
