Get sidetracked with the detour de force of a stout. Brewed with locally roasted Phil & Sebastian espresso beans sourced from a sky-high Guatemala growing region, Convenient Detour Espresso Stout is a rich, compelling, caffeinated beer that drinks like a meal.
A combination of chocolate and crystal malts were brewed to build body in this stout. It's thicker than our previous P&S coffee stouts and contains lactose for a touch of sweetness and a smooth mouthfeel. Over 40 pounds of coffee was steeped in 200L of water to give this beer a jolt.

Appearance - Pours a rich cola brown with three fingers of fizzy mocha tan head.
Smell - Strong espresso, roasted malts, bitter cocoa, some hint of nuttiness, earthy hops. Predominantly strong brewed coffee.
Taste - Very strong brewed coffee (dark roast and espresso beans), followed by mild earthy hops, roasted malts, and notes of cocoa/cacao nibs.
Mouthfeel - Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. A little thinner than expected and drinks more like a porter.
Overall - If you like a robust coffee flavour to your coffee stouts, this one certainly delivers. Hard to pick up much else due to the strong coffee presence.
