Draft at Meddlesome. Poured a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sticky patches of lace. It smelled of orange, grapefruit and resin. Sweet fruity taste with toasted caramel and a piney bitterness.

Poured golden-brown with half inch head of small bubble foam that dissipated after first sip into a light layer over the surface. Taste is initially bitter with a smoother aftertaste. Mouth feels dry after soon after drinking. Overall not a bad beer to sip, but the strong hops make it difficult to down quickly.

First had 201 Hoplar at Central BBQ Downtown, Memphis, on draft into tumbler.
Pours gold with clarity and 1-finger creamy off-white head, which dissipates to a thick film which pulls gorgeous Belgian lace down the glass. Nice aroma of resin, pine and a little tropical fruit (pineapple). Begins with carbonation bite, then piney hops, pineapple as warms, and some caramel malt in a nicely bitter finish.
My first beer from Meddlesome, this intended West Coast IPA does showcase and beautifully balance the expected hop flavors. My only quibble—and this may have been a choice by the brewer—is that it’s all a bit muted (“drinkable”) for a West Coast IPA. More hops, please! Or maybe add a DIPA version of 201? What’s at 402 Poplar?

This beer witnessed a great night on Beale Street in Memphis. Had it on tap at the Blues City Cafe bar, served in a plastic cup in case I wanted to drink in the stree. I did not. My wife and I listened to great music and interesting patron, include some “dates” for some discriminating gentlemen (who eventually got kicked out!).
The beer was an excellent accompaniment to the goings on. Golden yellow, great head and lacing. Very hoppy, piney, citrus, mango, vanilla and a bit floral with a pleasant bitter finish. Fun beer, fun times!

On-tap at The Flying Saucer, Memphis, TN
A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color with some hues of amber and a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left lots of lacing down the sides fo the glass and a narrow collar around the edge.
S: Light to moderate aromas of mango are present in the nose along with hints of pine.
T: The taste resembles the smell, except that the piney hops are stronger and stand out in front of the mangos and lemony hops. The pine lingers into the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this beer has an interesting mix of tropical, citrusy, and piney hops.
Serving type: on-tap
