L: Had this beer on-tap at Capital Ale House - Midlothian, poured into a snifter glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, off white, fairly long-lasting head. Not much lacing, though.
S: An underwhelming aroma of cherries, roasted malt, chocolate, and vanilla.
T: Tasted of some mild vanilla notes (only a fleeting tinge), a whole lot of roasted malt, light milk chocolate (could have used more), a moderate amount of cherries, and hops in the finish. Like the aroma, the flavor is quite underwhelming. The more attractive elements (chocolate, cherries) are underserved. Not bad, but could have been better.
F: A decent amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This beer has its good qualities, but doesn't quite succeed.
