355ml (I think, as once again, it's not specified on the label) can. The name is German for 'Caboose Kolsch'.
This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat fizzy off-white head, which leaves some snow-capped mountain peak lace around the glass as it quickly subsides.
It smells of bready and grainy pale malt, further crackery cereals, a bit of white grape pomace, some mild earthy yeastiness, and fairly understated grassy and musty floral green hop bitters. The taste is semi-sweet, grainy and doughy pale malt, damp wheat crackers, some mushy apple and indistinct citrus fruitiness, gently estery yeast, and more low-key leafy, weedy, and grassy verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its palate-mollifying frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, with a nice airy creaminess evolving as it warms up a little. It finishes off-dry, the malty graininess not about to be denied another flourish on this day.
Overall, this is one rather robust version of the style, with what is starting to seem like an Albertan malt terroir thing going on. Very low bitterness levels, and a softly-rendered fruity character make for one easy-drinking tipple. Another solid offering from Siding 14.
