8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square. I'll have to look up this one's meaning at a later time.

This beer appears a clear, very dark mahogany highlighted brown colour, with a thin cap of wispy and weakly bubbly tan head, which leaves a bit of random cloud form lace around the glass as things gently fade away.

It smells of roasted artisanal coffee, bittersweet cocoa powder, gritty and grainy caramel malt, cold cream, a mild bruised stone fruitiness, and some tame earthy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is Coffee Crisp chocolate bars, grainy and doughy caramel malt, some free-range ashiness, expired milk, ephemeral plum and cherry fruity notes, and more understated leafy, weedy, and floral verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite active in its swirling and twirling frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and mostly smooth, just a suggestion of char marring the ideal here. It finishes trending dry, the cocoa, malt, and milky essences bottoming out.

Overall - this is a pleasant and well-rendered version of the augmented style, wherein the local coffee addition goes the long mile in its contribution to the whole. Very tasty and engaging, and totally worth checking out.
