1L howler from Sherbrooke Liquor store - man, the recent spate of local berry milkshake ales just shows no sign of abating, and there's still a ton of snow on the ground!
This beer pours a super turbid, milky medium apricot colour, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some random splotchy snow rime lace around the glass as it quickly sinks out of sight.
It smells of those foil-wrapped strawberry suckers, fresh strawberry puree, thawing frozen strawberries, DQ's strawberry ice cream topping (with the soft swirl), and yeah, very little else. The taste is bready and doughy caramel malt, a lessened sugary strawberry fruitiness, melted vanilla ice cream (or smushed, just like my kid and his dear ol' Dad like it), a hint of musty yeast, and some ethereal earthy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters.
The carbonation is fairly meek in its barely-there frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and essentially smooth, in the manner of, what's that thing called again? Oh yeah - a smoothie! It finishes off-dry, all milky and frooooooty!
Overall - I cannot deny that this one brought the veritable goods. It is definitely more strawberry milkshake than pale ale, but at least the latter gives it the proverbial college try, before just ceding defeat in the face of the greater good. Damn, this is tasty, so much so that I'm glad my little guy isn't around, because he would be able to smell it from across the room, and want some - and I'm not sharing this! :-)

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
