1L howler from Sherbrooke Liquor store - no mention anywhere of this one being made with the Denali varietal, of course, so nonetheless, here we go.
This beer pours a clear, bright pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, rocky, and somewhat bubbly off-white head, which leaves some decent sudsy flock of seagulls lace around the glass as it evenly bleeds away.
It smells of grainy and crackery cereal malt, muddled domestic citrus rind, some hard water flintiness, indistinct earthy spice, ephemeral yeast, and more leafy, weedy, and herbal green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, black peppercorns, faint orange and white grapefruit pith, wet stones, and more understated leafy, herbal, and piney verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly active in its palate-tickling frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and generally smooth, with perhaps a touch of bland hop acridity taking a little off the top here. It finishes trending dry, the biscuity Alberta malt holding a pleasant enough after party.
Overall - well, this particular hop does seem to possess a certain robustness, one which more or less props up this typically wan sub-style. Edgy, despite the low ABV, and pretty easy to slam back when the occasion really fucking calls for it.
