16 oz can acclimated to 59°F and poured into a snifter.
Pours an impenetrable black with a 3 finger, lacy, quickly dissipating, dark tan head with thick lacing.
Initial aroma is coffee and seltzer water, additionally, with a strong alcohol smell that I can feel it in my lungs. Licorice is present. After agitating I notice the alcohol more.
Initial taste before swallowing is sweet with a light alcohol burn and some molasses. I also notice a red fruitiness that reminds me very much of goji berry. After swallowing the sweetness and alcohol continue and I pick up milk chocolate but not as strong as I would have imagined. The alcohol is pretty well hidden at 11%, what I do taste hits the entire tongue, with the chocolate concentrating in the back of the cheeks. Halfway through a dried fruit taste emerges. The licorice taste opens up to a cherry taste as I get further in. The creme taste elusive at first, became apparent with time, although somewhat light to my taste.
Mouthfeel is extremely syrupy, it sticks to the side of the glass while agitating. It's also very smooth and heavy, occupying more space in the mouth than the same amount would in a glass.
