been wanting to check this place out for a long time now. i had heard about these crazy global and culinary inspired beers, and had to see what its all about. cool that yet another brewery has come on the scene in denver and seems to be doing well! the space is pretty weak, generic and almost nondescript, like, it doesnt quite have its own feel yet, some wood and some local art, but its no cohesive and it felt really underdone, like the atmosphere really isnt great here at all, its mellow and all but its not relaxing, kind of bisected by the bar, weirdly lit, and just not up to the level of a lot of other places locally. that said though, the service was great even though they were busy, and the dude knew his stuff pretty well. the beer list is super busy looking, almost too wordy to read and advertising future brews that arent even in fermenters yet, so its messy as it gets, with low fi looking tiny flags of the countries that inspired the beers next to them, as unorganized as their taproom, from the mind of someone bipolar or idiot savant or something, whatever, its fine because the beer is very good, way ahead of expectations! the basil ipa was my favorite by far, but i also liked the intensely flavored turkish coffee stout as well as the english ipa with squash and fenugreek, so interesting! i think the cool ingredients make the beer, they might not be perfect beers technically speaking, but they are definitely inspired and the ones we had worked really well. i am curious to see where this place goes next, i thought the beer was exciting and new to me, but its not necessarily a place i want to hang out in. its raw but it has a lot of potential and was surprising in a lot of ways. well worth trying their beers though when you are in town! come with an open mind...
