L: Had this beer on-tap at Capital Ale House - Innsbrook, poured into a snifter glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored, somewhat long-lasting head. Average lacing.

S: A good, but not spectacular, aroma of hops, malt, citrus fruit, and milk chocolate.

T: Tasted of a bit of citrus fruit (lemon, in particular), a light grainy quality (lingers around), some hops (not as big a factor), lots of dark malt (bigger than average presence), and light milk chocolate notes. This is kind of an oddball flavor that doesn't quite come off. It blends two styles that don't play well together. Not terrible, but could've been better.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: An uneven beer with some interesting qualities.

Billed as a "Black Brut IPA", the beer pours a muddy brown body with creamy head that slowly dies and leaves lace patches down glass. Floral aroma with some citric hops and hints of malts. Conversely, the beer is medium to heavy bodied, has a touch of that dry champagne feel but it is underneath a chewy malt base. Not bad but the two main flavor profiles are muddled and don't blend well, with the beer coming off as a really dry and slightly grainy sweet IPA.
