Ocean Lab Brewing Company

As usual, I was at a hotel just down the street on a work trip. I came here on my last night of the week I was there. I had tried several other restaurants in the area, and none of them really had a beer selection to speak of. I had Ocean Lab at one of the restaurants, but wanted to try the place for real.

Even though it was warm. I sat outside. There were a few showers in the area, so it wasn't toooo oppressive. Ordered the IPA and it was meh. A little too malty for me. Also had the blood orange blood and it was a little better. Light and refreshing.

Had the foot long bratwurst for dinner and it was pretty tasty. Odd having a german style dish in the Carribean, but it worked out well with the beers. I would have come back if it wasn't my last night. Enjoyed this place.

 

Open breezy tap room on top of the brewery with views of a pool club/music venue and the ocean. Nice selection of beers plus a full bar. I tried a few beers, mostly solid with one let down. Appetizers and meals were pretty good and our server was great. Would have visited again but our vacation itinerary was full. Maybe next year. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

My wife and I visited Ocean Lab today for lunch and some beers, and were not disappointed. It's an interesting place - a big breezy taproom and restaurant situated on top of the brewery, so there are great views out over the ocean. They're located at a beach club, so there are swimming pools and a music venue and a swim-up bar (that was not open when I visited). A very unique setting - definitely a vacation vibe.

Today they had 14 of their beers on tap plus a full bar. They've got a reasonable variety of basic styles - pale, brown, amber, wheat, stout, IPA. The pale ale is in the mold of the classics like Mirror Pond; not bad. The passionfruit wheat beer, Mambo, is very good! Not what I normally order but well done. Ocean Stout milk stout is perfectly decent as well.

The food is excellent - I had pork tacos and my wife had the yellowfin. I would say the food is a little on the pricey side, but really good. As far as service - people are friendly, and just remember that you're on island time.

Nice beachfront location. The bar overlooks a large ongoing pool party with lots of activity and good music. There is also a concert stage for live music. Behind it all is the Caribbean sea. There are 16 beers on tap, most of them are just okay. They do brew decent IPA's. They have a decent selection of food also. Definitely a place worth checking out.

Directly on the beach, this is a nicely done brewpub. They’re just a few months old but their beers are very good- not mind blowing but good. Food is good, service was quick and friendly, the location can’t be beat. Looking forward to seeing how their beer evolves. The standout beer for me was their Hurricane Harvest Ale.

Great to see craft breweries in PR! This is right by the airport in Isla Verde (a mile walk from the Ritz Carlton or El San Juan), at the Vivo Beach Club. About 10 offerings of their beer, which is in many styles. Friendly and nice service, and having good beer in the Caribbean is not a bad deal. Certainly worth a visit.
