Aroma
Floral, that hint of hops that is not vegetal but also only slightly fruity. A bit of malt, but nothing strong in the nose.
Appearance
Even on day 2 out a growler, this beer pours a wonderful ruby-tinted amber. Great lacing from a dense head of tiny and large bubbles, off-white not quite tan. Mostly clear, with just a bit of haze, even as it warms a bit.
Flavor
An almost dry hoppiness, sharp and bitter with herbal notes almost forest floor. Not overly funky, not piney, not at all fruity, but distinctly 'hoppy' in a contitental way.
Malt holds up with a strong body but not sweet or remotely cloying. Just a bit of alcohol edge cutting through. Notes of caramel as the malt notes first kick in. Finishes dry with lingering bitterness, also not unpleasant.
Mouthfeel
Medium body, good carbonation with a bit of bite but not unpleasant. Slick on the tongue as the alcohol and malt lingers a bit before the hops really kick in.
Overall
This beer is really a delightful recreation of Stone's Arrogant Bastard. I don't know whether or not that's what Imminent is going for, but as a huge fan of Arrogant Bastard, I find it to be excellent. Suberb balance top to bottom, with just enough malt creaminess to make the front-forward hop bitterness hold together. (5-day trip to Northfield = 2nd growler of this beer specifically.)
