Poured from 16oz crowler filled at the brewery into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: rich, dark-brown hue with some ruby highlights when held up to the light. Head is a finger of fizzy dark-tan foam that didn't stick around super long, but was pretty nonetheless.
Smell: sweet and a bit roasty with a fair bit of vegetal hop character I sometimes detect in roastier beers.
Taste: this is a big beer, so it's indeed sweet, with a good caramel and a slightly crème brûlée character to it -- I wonder if they've used a tiny bit of vanilla in here? It's actually pretty tasty.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess. I was expecting a little more thickness from the monster ABV and sweetness.
Overall: this is a tasty, if sweet, dessert kind of treat. I'm not going to be pounding can after can of this down on the beach, but it's a nice quaff.
