Pint Nine Brewing Co. "Session Red"
16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
Notes via stream of consciousness: A hazy deep chestnut brown body with a reddish cast is capped by a finger's width of creamy khaki colored foam that settles shortly into just a thin surface covering. The aroma is malty and caramelish. The flavor follows with some medium-dark caramel and an added apple-like fruitiness. A modearate bitterness balances the lightly sweet malt and it finishes mostly dry, nutty, caramelish, and a touch leafy and grassy. It's nicely balanced and rounded. In the mouth it's medium-light in body, gently crisp, and then smooth. The head maintained a better than average collar once it fell, and it has left some nice lacing where the head first formed but there's not much after that. I doubt this beer will get much love in terms of ratings, and I do think it could use just a little bit more of something, but it's actually quite nice and remarkably quaffable. It reminds me of quite a few of the milds I've enjoyed in England.

On tap. Poured a clear, amber color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of caramel, toffee and floral notes. Sweet caramel with a mild bitter bite.
