This is a celebration beer brewed for the 750th anniversary of the founding of the city of Amersfoort in 1259. It is brewed by the city's only genuine brewery - De Drie Ringen (The Three Rings) (others such as De Prael use outside contract breweries to actually make the beer). This is a wheat beer - the label lists the ingredients as barley, wheat, hops, yeast and Veluwe water (the local water).

A: A pale straw colour, with the typical light cloudiness of a wheat beer. A thin lacy head sustained by a relatively high level of carbonation.

S: An initial light aroma of hops.

T: A pleasant, light refreshing taste. Little hop flavour, but a nicely balancing, but not overpowering, bitter finish.

M: Very fluffy, mostly from the carbonation. Perhaps not quite enough body for the strength.

D: Refreshing and balanced enough to be very drinkable, although at almost 6% probably not a session beer.

All in all, quite a nice beer - somehow I feel though that 750 years deserves something a bit more distinctive.
