On tap at Apothecary Ale House in Morgantown, WV.
This one pours a dark-ish brown, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like rye and oak spice, clove, nutmeg, dark fruit, caramel, and toffee.
This was surprisingly quite tasty, with a warming barrel character. There’s a nice spice from the oak and the yeast – I don’t think this is actually spiced. I get oak, clove, and a semi-nutmeg-like feel from it. There’s some creamy caramel and breadiness, and a very light fruitiness.
This is medium bodied, slightly boozy, but pleasantly so.
This was a really nice surprise.
