Near black color where no light passes. Smallish head, but the rim bubbles remain. No lacing.
The smell is like a barley wine—lots of sugary sweetness. Some alcohol warmth in the background.
The flavor is like a barley wine as well. Very sweet with little dark chocolate or coffee notes. The alcohol is very present. The “fig” may not be identifiable, but the fruity sugars sure are. Warm finish with a long cognac like aftertaste.
