The warmth of bourbon barrels with the depth and complexity of rye make for a rich base. The hop profiles brings balance creating something thoughtful and fresh.

The world is changing: I feel it in the water, I feel it in the earth, and I smell it in the air, and taste it in the beer! - Treebeard (sort of)

Pours a murky reddish brown with teaming three fingers of pale tan/tawny head - leaves a slightly dirty creamy snow cap.
Malty nose, caramel note - spicy rye, earthy and rustic hops, hint of grapefruit, pine and just a touch of bourbon.
Hoppy and spicy on the palate - rye and caramel malt, earthy and piney with a restrained but present bitterness at the back of palate. Just a little touch of the bourbon barrel.
Solid medium mouthfeel - moderate carbonation - the earthy and spicy rye notes persist briefly with a back of palate bitter kick.

A bourbon barrel-aged red rye IPA. A style that is not on BA.

Appearance - Pours a chestnut brown with four fingers of frothy tan head.

Smell - earthy, leafy, weedy, and floral hops, bourbon, char, rye malts, caramel, dark fruits of plum, fig, and raisin), pumpernickel, and earthy yeast.

Taste - earthy, leafy, weedy, and floral hops upfront then quickly goes into the bourbon barrel and char. The rye malts, caramel, dark fruits (hint of raisin, plum, and fig), and pumpernickel come through next. The earthy yeast rounds out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops, barrel, and malts lingering.

Overall - A unique brew that blends all flavours in a nice cohesive way. I like how the barrel is not in your face and rather acts a supporting cast member.
