11/21/2020 Pies and Pints, Morgantown, Pa. Not too much on the smell here, though I do get the maple and even a bit of wet bark. Definitely a warmer! Thick and rich bourbon on the way down. I get maple undertones, metal, bourbon and molasses. There's a sharp edge on the aftertaste that is a little much for me. But i do love the warmth!

32oz crowler poured into a tulip
A- pours jet black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki colored head that reduces to a ring around the glass
S- aroma opens with an earthy and herbal espresso note, followed by notes of mocha cream, chocolate, anise, caramel and charred malt. Undertones of wet oak, bourbon and just a hint of maple
T- the coffee takes center stage up front, giving bold espresso notes that add some earthy and herbal roasted notes. Mid palate gives notes of rich chocolate, anise, black licorice, caramel and brownie batter. The finish starts to bring out the barrel notes, adding barrel juice and wet oak. The linger brings out just a hint of maple sweetness, as well as more earthy coffee that sticks around long after
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a cream mouthfeel that continues into a slightly warming finish
O- the coffee really shines and works well with the base beer and the barrel treatment. The maple is subtle, but definitely adds a sweetness that isn't found in the regular BA version
