I dont require balance in a beer, but this one is far too imbalanced to appreciate. Too much roasted barley. The result is a scorching, acrid taste more akin to charcoal than any roasted grain. Its black, with low CO2 and a relatively thin, sullen body. I appreciated the chocolate-coffee aroma. But the burnt bitterness was too much to handle. And at just 6% ABV, the beer is mislabeled as an imperial stout.
